Bumblebee Group 2023 - 2024
Miss Ginty
Welcome to the Bumblebee Group's class page!
Our class teacher is Miss Ginty. Our class TAs are Miss Nicolae and Miss Fisk.
What we are learning this half term
In Maths, we will be comparing numbers, learning number bonds and exploring one more one less. In Science, we will be exploring everyday materials. In Literacy, our text is ‘Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes’ by Eric Litwin.
Here is a link to the animated story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GSnmRZlgc4 Please watch this at home with your child and practice singing Pete's song.
P.E.
Children will take part in weekly P.E lessons.
P.E. will be on a Wednesday.
Children must come to school in their PE kits (white top, black trousers/shorts/leggings and appropriate trainers). Please make sure children have the correct PE kit.
Phonics
In Bumblebees, we have daily phonics lessons. At Ashbury Meadow, we follow Little Wandle Letters and Sounds. Please see the Little Wandle parent page for access to videos and resources to support your child at home with phonics. Further information can be found on our phonics page of the website. https://www.littlewandlelettersandsounds.org.uk/resources/for-parents/
Reading
Children will be given a weekly reading book to read at home. This book will be matched to their phonics ability and will be set on the Collins Ebook app each Friday. Please read this book with your child at least 3 times per week. If you have any trouble accessing the app, just let your child’s teacher know.
For new students, further information and logins will be sent home.
Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) support
Every Tuesday, our speech and language therapist Laura spends the day in class. She works with individual children, doing activities based on their SALT targets. She also provides training for staff members to ensure we can deliver these activities on the other four days of the week.
Communication, language and interaction targets
Each child has target time every afternoon, during which, they will work on activities based on the EHCP, SALT and individual class targets. Your child will have three targets, focused on developing their speech, understanding and social interaction. These are reviewed at the end of each half-term by teachers and SALT. If you are unsure of your child’s targets, just let your child’s teacher know.
Communication books
Every day, we will write in your child's communication book about how your child has been and what they have done. Please check your child's communication book every evening and write a message to let us know how they have been and what they have done at home. Communication books must be brought to school every day and we will always return them to you at the end of the school day.
For new students, new books and further information will be sent home.
Tapestry
In Bumblebees, we will keep you updated on what your child is working on and achieving via the Tapestry app. On Tapestry, you will see picture and video observations of all the brilliant things your child has achieved in class. You can also comment on your child's observations and add your own observations of what your child has done at home. It is a great way to support your child's development so please get involved.
Here is a link to the tapestry website: https://tapestryjournal.com
If you need support accessing the Tapestry app, let your child's teachers know and we can help.
For new students, further information and logins will be sent home.
Additional learning apps
At school, we will be starting to use some learning apps and would encourage you to try using them at home with your child. Lexia is an app that supports your child’s phonics learning and Numbots is an app that supports your childs maths learning.
Logins for all students will be sent home.
