Communication Curriculum

Communication Curriculum

The communication curriculum includes the subjects of English, Spanish and P.E. As an ELKLAN-accredited Communication Friendly School, we recognise that communication skills are vital to enable pupils to reach their full potential both academically and socially. Our curriculum for these subjects promotes communicating in different ways and self-expression through timetabled lessons, whole school communication themed days and lots of opportunities to apply communication skills. We use the Talk 4 Write and Talk 4 Reading approach to support the teaching of English which emphasises the use of oracy. Our P.E. curriculum is supported by City in the Community and our Spanish curriculum is supported by the Language Angels scheme of work. We offer our pupils a wide range of activities, including after school sports' clubs and inter and intra school sports' competitions to develop and apply sporting skills and sportsmanship as demonstrated by our achievement of the Gold Schools Sports Mark.
