Author Visit - Laura Henry-Allain MBE
Lesson: Literacy
Class: Nursery R & V Year: 2025 - 2026
On Thursday 2nd July the children were lucky enough to have a visit from the award winning children's author Laura Henry-Allain MBE!
She read a Jo Jo and Gran Gran story, and showed the children one of her new books Maya and Marley - which was all about helping new friends feel welcome. We even got one of our books signed!
The children really enjoyed themselves and sat wonderfully throughout the visit, joining in when Laura asked them to. Well done Early Years!
Laura introduced us to the Early Years Reading Timeline, which is a guide to help parents and carers select books and stories to help support children at each stage of their reading journey. You can find a link to the guide below.

Laura also shared a link to a story to help support adults to have conversations with young children about mental health: https://www.annafreud.org/services/services-for-children-and-young-people/for-under-fives/early-years-in-mind/sometimes-happy-sometimes-sad/
Finally here are some links to a fun song all about reading, and some links to Laura reading her stories!
