School Meals and Menus

School Meals and Menus

A hot school meal may be purchased from the school as and when required. These currently cost £2.34 per day and £11.70 for a full week (this will be increasing to £2.39 and £11.95 per week from 1st April 2024) and should be paid for via the school comms app.

Our school meals provision is managed by and cooked on site by Mellors Catering Services.

Mellors Catering Services, an award-winning family business, was established back in 1840 as a local bakery, and is now the first choice contract caterer in the north for staff restaurants, schools and colleges.

Mellors Catering Services is committed to delivering an exciting choice of food that doesn't cost the earth. They use only the finest, freshest ingredients from local suppliers which means better quality food.

The menus have been devised to ensure that we meet the new Food Standards guidelines that were introduced in January 2015. In line with these guidelines, we are also able to provide details of any allergens that may be present in the foods that we serve. Please speak to a member of the Administration Team in the school office if you require further information.

INFANT FREE SCHOOL MEALS

From September 2014 all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will be eligible to receive a free meal provided by school. However, parents are welcome to send their child with a packed lunch if this is their preferred option. Teachers will ask the children in their class whether they are having a school meal or have brought a packed lunch from home as part of the morning registration procedure. Please also see the section below about Free School Meals as it is extremely important that families who are eligible under the original scheme make an application as this has both financial and other implications for the school.

School Milk and Fruit

Pupils from reception to year 6 can purchase daily milk at a cost of £18.00 per term through https://www.coolmilk.com/

Packed Lunches.

Pupils can bring packed lunches from home. We expect them to adhere to the same nutritional standards that we set when creating our cooked meals. They should be low in sugar and fat content, ie, no sweets, chocolate biscuits etc. and include fruit or yoghurt for dessert rather than cakes and biscuits. We are a nut-free school and no products containing nuts should be contained in packed lunches.

Pupils do NOT need to bring a drink. Water is provided.
