Ashbury Meadow School Choir

Ashbury Meadow School Choir

Ashbury Meadow has a choir made up of children from Years 2-6. The choir rehearses weekly to develop singing technique and performance skills. We learn a range of songs, from musical theatre and choral pieces to pop songs! The choir is growing in numbers each term and the children’s confidence and technique is improving each week.

The choir has regular opportunities to perform, such as in Harvest and Christmas concerts to parents and carers. This year, choir has also performed at The East Manchester Academy, a local high school in their Christmas fair and at The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. Later in the year, choir will have the exciting opportunity to perform with thousands of other children at the MEN arena in The Young Voices concert.

The choir leader, Miss Kerrison, is taking part in a year-long course with the Halle to develop skills for leading a school choir. As part of this course, the choir will also have the opportunity to sing at a masterclass with other school choirs.

Trip to Halle St Peter's

Ashbury Meadow School Choir had the incredible opportunity to perform and take part in a masterclass at Halle St Peter's in Manchester. The pupils learnt invaluable singing technique advice from Shirley Court, the Director of the Halle Children's Choir, as well as performing to and singing with 4 other schools. The children performed brilliantly and had a fanastic day!

Young Voices

In January, the choir attended the Young Voices concert. The children took part in a rehearsal during the afternoon and then performed alongside thousands of other children to an audience in the Manchester Arena.
